diabolist
Diabolists are the most well known subsection of warlocks, often mistaken for mere cultists, these followers of devils and demons of the lower planes often stand at the head of a cult, or serve as the direct evoy within such circles. While some make their pledges in desperation or even defiance, some willingly give themselves to their wicked masters out of true belief, or to dethrone an even greater threat.
Many diabolists are forged through contracts with devils of The Hells, creating a constant flow of new followers through small gifts provided by these infernal beings, but it is not unheard of to also make pacts with lower demons that vie endlessly for power within their own realms.
Expanded Spell List
As a Diabolist you gain access to an expanded list of spells that are added to your warlock spells. The following spells are added to your warlock spell list, and are considered occult when you cast them.
| Spell Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 1st | Burning Hands, Command |
| 2nd | Blindness/Deafness, Scorching Ray |
| 3rd | Fireball, Stinking Cloud |
| 4th | Fire Shield, Wall of Fire |
| 5th | Flame Strike, Hallow |
Fiendish Feeding
When you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + your warlock level (minimum of 1).
Unholy Blessing
You can call on your patron to alter fate in your favor. When you make an ability check or a saving throw, you can use this feature to add a to your roll. You can do so after seeing the initial roll but before any of the roll's effects occur.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Adaptive Resilience
You can choose one damage type when you finish a short or long rest. You gain resistance to that damage type until you choose a different one with this feature. Damage from Holy, or silver weapons ignores this resistance.
Baptism of the Styx
When you strike a creature with an attack, you can invoke the infernal waters of the River Styx to drag your foe beneath its cursed current. The target vanishes, submerged in the soul-staining depths of that dread river, and becoming Incapacitated while there.
At the end of your next turn, the creature reappears in the space it previously occupied (or the nearest unoccupied space). It emerges dripping with spectral water, its mind and body corroded by the river’s blight. The creature takes unholy damage as echoes of countless damned souls tear at its essence.
